How to eject a stuck Disc from PS5 Manually

It’s possible that rebooting your system may solve the problem. Turn off the console by pressing and holding the power button in the front of the console, and press the power button again after 10 seconds.

If still a disc is stucked in your PS5™ console, you can manually eject it by following these steps.

Before you begin, you will need

  • A well-lit room with a table to work on.
  • A cross-head screwdriver.
  • A small torch (optional).

Note: Don’t turn on or play on your console while the cover is off.

How to manually eject a stuck disc from a PS5 console

To eject the disc of your PS5 console, follow these steps:

  • Firstly, press and hold the power button on your PS5 console for approximately three seconds to turn it off. Once it is powered off, disconnect all cables and devices connected to the console.
  • Find a flat surface and place a soft cloth on it. Put your PS5 console on the cloth, ensuring that the screw hole for the base is facing you. The PS logo on the console should be facedown, and the disc slot should be on your left side.
  • Position your palms near the top corners of the console and grip the edge of the cover firmly. Gently pull the cover upward and toward yourself. You might hear a clicking sound as the cover is released.
  • Lift the cover away from the console to reveal the internal components. Take note of any black rings on the optical drive, which may include a circle of black plastic film. You can remove this film or push through it to access the screw beneath it. It’s worth mentioning that newer consoles may not have this plastic cover.
  • Use a cross-head screwdriver to turn the screw in a clockwise direction until the entire disc is nearly visible.
  • Carefully remove the disc from the optical drive. Ensure that you do not forcefully pull the disc out to prevent any damage.
  • Once the disc is removed, position the bottom cover by aligning it about 2 cm or 3/4 inch away from the top edge of the console. Slide the cover back into place until you hear an audible click, indicating that it is securely attached.
  • Reconnect all cables to the console and power it back on by following the usual startup procedure.

By following these steps, you can safely remove the cover of your PS5 console.
